The 2024 Clan Meeting was on Sunday April 21 and we met in De Blaauwe Kamer of Wageningen. The fun program was from 11 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. This location on the edge of the province of Utrecht is located in a beautiful nature reserve, river landscape of the Lower Rhine, with up to 70 species of breeding birds, including the spoonbill. From the panoramic restaurant there is a beautiful view and you can touch the deer. The location has an extensive indoor playground for children.
Of course there was the General Members Meeting (ALV) as a permanent part of the Clan Day.
We also looked at a piece of family history together again. This time we looked at our history related to the theme of Curaçao.
Our ancestor Jonathan, grandson of the Scot William Ferguson, settled in Curaçao from the Netherlands. He is the grandfather of 'the group of 17' and 'the group of 13'. What do we know about him and his family? His descendants spread across the West and the East. Because of the commemoration year for the history of slavery, we also briefly reflect on this.
It was a busy day and a busy programme, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!
